Presently, the Delhi Gurgaon Expressway originates from Dhaula Kuan in Delhi and goes upto Manesar. The Expressway has been developed with a total cost of Rs 90,000.

The Delhi-Gurgaon expressway is one of the major expressways that stretches between Delhi and Gurgaon. It starts at Dhaula Kuan in Delhi and ends on the t outskirts of Gurgaon. The length of the expressway is 27.7 km making it one of the busiest inter-city routes in India. The expressway handles over 1,80,000 passenger car units (PCUs) every day. 

The project also boasts 11 overpasses, 11 flyovers and 4 toll collection points. The expressway is also the home to a 32-lane toll plaza which is the biggest toll plaza in Asia. To improve connectivity, an alternate route link from Dwarka Expressway is connected to this which will run parallel to the Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway.

Delhi Gurgaon Expressway Toll

The NHAI has introduced a toll tax system based on the pay-per-road use for the Delhi Gurgaon Expressway. The system collects the fee based on the distance travelled by the commuter. Presently, the expressway does not have a fixed toll rate. 

To aid in the same, ANPR cameras are installed on all entries/exits of the expressway that help to collect tolls automatically through FASTags. 

With this system, the NHAI hopes to reduce fuel waste, congestion and pollution on the Delhi Gurgaon Expressway. The locals that are residing on either side of the expressway are exempted from paying the toll fee. 

Delhi-Gurgaon Highway Project Details

The Delhi-Gurgaon expressway is a major expressway which was developed at a total cost of Rs 9,000 crore. It was developed by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), under the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (MoRT&H) and was initially proposed as a part of the Golden Quadrilateral project. 

The expressway connects metro cities of New Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, and Kolkata and was developed into a six/eight lane access controlled divided carriageway. Presently, the Delhi Gurgaon Expressway is a four-lane with a 27.7 km section of NH 8 between Delhi and Gurgaon. This four-lane road has a total of 20 intersections with high vehicular density.

Delhi Gurgaon Highway was announced in June 2003 and the construction work began shortly after that. However, it was delayed several times due to acquisition reasons.
