  1. The Bangalore Chennai Expressway is going to cover the major states of Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu

Bangalore-Chennai Expressway: Cost and travel time

The Bangalore-Chennai Expressway was initially proposed to reduce the total travel time between both cities. The total time has been reduced by two and a half hours. project was esteemed to be constructed at a whooping cost of Rs 18,000 crores. Out of this, around Rs 5700 crores will be used to construct the Expressway.

Bangalore-Chennai Expressway: Completion Timeline

The Bangalore-Chennai Expressway is majorly developed under the Gati Shakti scheme. The expressway is proposed to be built in three phases and ten packages. Several schemes have been initiated to make the expressway access-controlled, greenfield, signal-free and elevated expressway. The Bangalore Chennai Expressway is going to be operational by March 2024.

Bangalore-Chennai Expressway: Present status

The NHAI has proposed to construct a 262 km long 8-lane structure along the Bangalore Chennai Expressway worth Rs. 16,730 Crores. This new greenfield project proposed by the Ministry is going to reduce the distance between Bengaluru and Chennai metro from 300km to 262km. The construction is underway and is expected to be complemented by March 2024.
